Letters from the In-between: maybe it was never what happened to you

Yet one day, a beacon shone,

She grasped her strength, her inner tone.

Not circumstances, but her own view,

Defined her fate, to herself she'd be true.

A shift in thought, a brighter gaze,

She recast her life, rewrote her days.

There is something that, once you understand it, can change your life completely.

The reality you are living today is a reflection of your identity.

And your identity is shaped by what you think, what you feel, and what you believe to be true about yourself and about life.

The past is over.

You cannot change it.

But what is still alive —what keeps you living in a reality you no longer want— is the identity that was formed in that past.

You are still living from that version of you that went through it.

The one who felt like she had no control.

The one who, often without realizing it, decided who she was based on what happened.

And from there, you build everything.

What you believe about yourself.

What you expect from life.

What you tolerate.

What you repeat.

So it is not a coincidence that your life keeps looking the same.

It is not a coincidence that the same patterns keep showing up.

It is not a coincidence that you are still not being, doing, or having what you truly want.

Not because you are doing something wrong, but because you are still being the same version of you that creates that reality.

This is why it is crucial to understand this:

Your reality is a reflection of your identity.

And from there, you stop asking what you need to do…and start asking who you are being.

Because this is not about doing more.

It is about becoming someone different.

Who?

The version of you who already lives the life you want.

The one who thinks differently.

Feels differently.

Believes different things about herself and about life.

Not by denying what you went through, but by no longer using it as the starting point to define you.

Like a phoenix that is not the same one that fell, even if it rose from the same ashes.

Because when your identity changes, your thoughts change.

When your thoughts change, your emotions change.

And from there, your decisions change.

And then everything changes.

What you believe is true about yourself.

About life.

About others.

About what you deserve.

About what is possible for you.

And your life changes.

Not because you did something outside of you…but because you changed within you.

It is not what happened to you. It is who you choose to be after it.

What I know now

  • You do not repeat your past — you adopt the identity that was created by it.

  • Your outer world reflects what you hold as true within.

  • When you change who you are, you change what is possible for you.

Carry this with you

  • I am what I am...

  • I am who I choose to be

  • I am what I choose to do

  • I am what I choose to have

Before you go…

Are you still living from the version of you that was formed in your past, or from the one you are choosing to be now?

If you feel like sharing, I would love to read you in the comments.
